The 10th anniversary edition of the International Accordion Days in Prague (held from October 24th to 27th, 2024) marked a significant moment for the festival, recalling its evolution since 2015 when it expanded on the European Festival of Accordion Orchestras by adding solo and chamber categories. This year, the festival attracted 180 participants from 13 countries, underscoring its growing international appeal.
The jubilee festivities opened on Thursday with a Czech-Scandinavian evening at Prague’s Museum of Arts and Crafts. The concert featured Czech soloists Martin Šulc, Tadeáš Mrázek, and Jiří Lukeš, alongside Swedish soloists Leonid Florin Muravjov and Jevgenija Sirosh. The program included works by Petr Fiala, J. Alfvén, M. Glinka, J. Nuorvala, and C. Saint-Saëns.

Friday’s competition events were held at the newly renovated baroque Clam-Gallas Palace, where junior soloists performed before juries including Andreas Nebl, Markéta Laštovičková, Jiří Lukeš, Momir Novakovič, Petr Vacek, Mirco Patarini, Adolfo Del Conte, Daniela Gazdic-Kljajic, and Ladislav Horák.
Category winners included Vojtěch Parkan (Cat. 0), Filip Pešek (Cat.0), Viktor Kaczkowski (Cat.I), Bohumil Čermák (Cat.II), Jaroslav Pokuta (Cat. III), and Djordje Peric (Cat.IV).
The day concluded with a tour of Clam-Gallas Palace, followed by The Fairy Teller, an evening concert featuring Czech fairy tale melodies arranged for accordion (Ladislav Horák) and cello (Petr Nouzovský). The duo was added a humorous narrative from both protagonists, offering the audience insight into the compositions’ creation.

Saturday’s competition continued at the Prague Conservatory, showcasing senior soloists, chamber ensembles, and accordion orchestras. Accompanying exhibitions by accordion manufacturers Delicia and Scandalli and the publishing house Edition Rondo Prague enriched the day.
The festival featured a wide-ranging program of tasteful arrangements and new compositions. Winners across various categories included Jovan Stanimirov (Cat.V), Renāts Vanags (Cat.IV), Leonid Florin Muravjov (Cat. IIV), Duo con brio (Cat. VIII), Duo Palladio (Cat. IX), Royal Meath Accordion Ensemble (Cat. X), Musica in fiore Trossingen (Cat. XI), and HUMI Accordion Orchestra (Cat. XII). The festival concluded with an awards evening featuring performances by Djordje Peric, Leonid Florin Muravjov, and Duo Palladio.
