Tuesday 06 October 19:00 – 21:00 Coupe Mondiale Opening Concert. The Opening Concert will include highlights of Finnish accordion music, in contemporary and historical formats. Featured are:
– The Finnish Youth Accordion Ensemble, conductor Janne Valkeajoki.
– Maria Kalaniemi & Timo Alakotila
Wednesday 07 October 2015 19:00 – 21:00 Kimmo Pohjonen. Since 1996, after his many projects in folk, rock, dance, theatre and avant-garde music projects, Kimmo Pohjonen has concentrated on his solo 5-row accordion project, featuring extreme and original compositions, custom-made MIDI-fied electric accordion, live loops and effects, dynamic and animated stage performance, orchestrated lights and surround sound.
Thursday 08 October 2015 19:00 – 21:00 Guardia Nueva Tango Orchestra conducted by Raimo Vertainen & soloists Jonna Pirttijoki (bandoneon and vocals) and Teemu Roivainen (vocals). This wonderful tango orchestra will be performing World Tango, Finnish and Argentinian tunes, music by Piazzolla, Gotan Project etc. Listen to the sound samples at: Guardia Nueva
Teemu Roivainen (vocals) was a winner of the “Tango King of Finland” competition (Seinäjoki Tango Festival).
Friday 09 October 19:00 – 21:00 Mika Väyrynen (Finland). One of the most distinguished classical accordionists with an international career that has included: winning the Coupe Mondiale in 1989, hundreds of concerts, continuous work with the top-class symphony orchestras, more than 20 CD’s etc. For this concert, Mika Väyrynen plays a solo program with works by Bach, Grieg, Sallinen, Korpijaakko as well as a world premiere of the Mephisto Maze composed by Veli Kujala.
Saturday 10 October 19:00 – 21:00 Prize Winners of all the categories of the Coupe Mondiale & Closing Ceremony. Hear the finest of the 2015 Coupe Mondiale competitors in concert.
