
The 2024 World Accordion Day and Dr Willard A Palmer Festival will be held at A World of Accordions Museum, Harrington Arts Centre in Superior, Wisconsin, USA from May 2nd to 5th, 2024.
The event will begin with a free concert for families by Jane Christison and include a celebration dinner.
The World Accordion Day celebrations will feature a special “Welcome” by Kevin Friedrich, Ambassador of the CIA, Q&A with Helmi Harrington, Ph.D., Founder and Curator of AWA and a welcome by the Mayor Jim Paine.
Event honorees are: George Curletto, Willard A. Palmer III and Joan C. Sommers.
Events will continue with a Museum Collections Visit, the World Premiere of the ATG sponsored documentary, “A World of Accordions . . . a Harrington Legacy”, performance by the Chicagoland Accordion Academy (directed by Mary Ann Covone), workshop by Joan Cochran Sommers “What should we learn between Book 3 and Book 10? Scales, Arpeggios, Chords and More!”, World Accordion Music concert by the Accordion & Concertina Music Band & Friends, and finishing with a performance by Mike Middleton and the Middletones, which includes Dr. Mike Middleton (accordion), Clayton Capps (tuba) and Lance Middleton (drums).
