
The 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards will be held at the National Arts Centre & Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from April 3rd to 6th, 2025.

This year’s event will also celebrate their 20th anniversary and features 107 nominees in 20 categories from across Canada. Included will be a grand gala and a series of bilingual concerts that highlight the diversity, creativity, and cultural significance of the Canadian folk music scene today. Each concert will also include several awards presentations.
“The mission of the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) is to celebrate and promote Canadian folk music in all its forms.”
Nominees include the following groups with accordionists:
Global Roots Album of the Year:
Lemon Bucket Orkestra – “Cuckoo”
“This award is open to artists, groups, or duos, and recognizes traditional or contemporary folk music strongly influenced by cultures other than those of the Indigenous peoples of what is now Canada, or its main early European settlers.”
The Lemon Bucket Orkestra includes accordionist and vocalist Marichka Marczyk.
Traditional Album of the Year:
Rum Ragged – “Gone Jiggin”

“This award recognizes solo artists, groups or duos. Instrumental or vocal, including recent material, influenced by traditional folk music styles, repertoire and musical structures.”
Ensemble of the Year:
Rum Ragged – Gone Jiggin’
“This award recognizes a group or duo, either instrumental or instrumental/vocal. Based on instrumental expertise, vocal ability, strength and originality of arrangements, tightness of ensemble. Music from all folk genres is eligible, including traditional, contemporary and global roots music.”
