2025 Whitby Folk Week – England

Whitby Folk Week is a much-loved annual folk festival held at various locations in the picturesque seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast in England.

The year’s event will be held from August 16th to 22nd and include a variety of concerts, ceilidhs, dancing, dance displays, workshops, storytelling, children and youth daily programs, interviews, sessions and much more.

Performers include Banter (Simon Care on melodeon & concertina, Nina Zella on keyboards & vocals, Tim Walker on drums, percussion, brass, guitar, bass & vocals and Mark Jolley on bass, fiddle, guitar & vocals), Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (melodeon and concertina), Dan Quinn, Doug Eunson (melodeon & hurdy gurdy) with Sarah Matthews (fiddle), Granny’s Attic, John Kirkpatrick, Johnny Handle & Chris Hendry, Katie Howson (melodeon), Luke Daniels (melodeon and accordion), Mossy Christian (award winning professional musician, singer, and dancer), The Davenports, and Tyburn Road (Ian Giles & Dave Townsend – vocals, concertina and melodeon).

Many of these artists will be running workshops across a wide variety of music, song and dance for beginners to advanced, some being a one off and others a series across the week culminating in a workshop showcase on the Friday.
