The Black Pencil ensemble will perform their “Barok à la Folk” concert (a journey through folk music and Baroque splendor) at the Het Jagthuis Chamber Music Foundation in Nederhorst den Berg, Netherlands on March 29th, 2026 from 3.30pm.
The ensemble consists of Marko Kassl (accordion), Jorge Isaac (recorder), Matthijs Koene (pan flute), Esra Pehlivanli (viola) and Enric Monfort (percussion).
“Music knows no boundaries. Throughout the centuries, composers have drawn inspiration from the folk music that surrounded them. In Baroque à la Folk, Black Pencil explores the intriguing connections between Baroque music and the rich traditions of folk music from various cultures. A program sparkling with virtuosity, emotion, and surprises.”
Their program includes works by Telemann, Hotteterre, and Purcell, traditional songs from Ireland and Scandinavia, and Old Slavic traditional songs.
