Black Pencil will perform a new work entitled “Into Space” by Calliope Tsoupaki at the City Hall Almere in The Netherlands during the Land Art Weekend on June 2nd, 2026.

The work is inspired by The Green Cathedral, blending nature’s sounds with musical composition and was written for the occasion of the artwork’s restoration.

The concert “features music linked to nature, from the early Renaissance to the present day, capturing the sounds of birds, rustling leaves, storms, and summer evenings.”

“Composer Calliope Tsoupaki has been awarded the Johan Wagenaar Prize for 2026, marking the first time a woman has received this prestigious Lifetime Achievement award.”

The Ensemble Black Pencil includes Marko Kassl (accordion), Jorge Isaac (recorder), Matthijs Koene (pan flute), Esra Pehlivanli (viola) and Enric Monfort (percussion).
