“World Music Day (French: Fête de la Musique) is an international musical event that is celebrated every year on June 21st, the first day of summer and the summer solstice. In 1976, the American musician Joel Cohen, who worked at a French radio station, proposed an all-day celebration of music during the longest day of the year. 1981: French Minister of Culture Jack Lang accepted this idea and took it to the national level. June 21, 1982: The first big celebration called Fête de la Musique was officially held in Paris.”
