The Mark Lasis Quintet will perform at The Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston, London, England on October 4th, 2026 from 7.30pm.
The quintet consists of Mark Lasis (accordion), Solly Chappell (guitar), Artis Aleksejevs (drums), Alex Sibley (saxophone) and bass guitar).
“Currently studying Classical Accordion at the Royal Academy of Music, London-based accordionist and composer Mark Lasis presents his quintet at the Vortex for the first time for a set of original compositions inspired by the sounds of 70s fusion paired with his roots as a classical musician.”
The quintet’s “innovative sound, combining unique instrumentation and mature original compositions, has garnered them recognition as one of London’s most promising emerging jazz ensembles and has led them to performing extensively throughout the UK at venues such as Jazztrain and festivals such as Brockley Max, as well as participating in the King’s Place Young Artist Platform.”
Mark’s aim is to present the versatility and expression of the accordion in the context of contemporary music, changing the perception of the instrument.
