Accordionist Veli Kujala will perform as soloist, accompanied by the Lapland Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductor John Storgårds, giving the world premiere of Finnish composer Olli Moilanen’s new accordion concerto, “Machina Animata”.

The concert will take place on October 28th, 2026 at Korundi House of Culture in Rovaniemi, Finland, as part of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra’s concert, Animata!

The premiere promises to be a significant occasion for contemporary accordion music, bringing a newly commissioned work to audiences in northern Finland.

The concert programme also includes Benjamin Britten’s Lachrymae, Op. 48a, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 in E minor, Op. 93, in the Finnish premiere of an arrangement for chamber orchestra by Joolz Gale.
