At the First Existentialist Church, Peković delivered a solo recital exploring the accordion’s expressive potential. The program included works by John Cage, Philip Glass, Arvo Pärt, and Edvard Grieg, as well as compositions written for him by Igor Andrić, Adam Mirza, and Relja Jakovljević.
Peković seamlessly navigated modern minimalism and Romantic lyricism, revealing the accordion’s versatility. Highlights included Pärt’s Variationen zur Gesundung von Arinuschka and Glass’s dynamic movements. As part of the Free Radical Live (FRL) series at Emory’s Performing Arts Studio, Peković collaborated with composer Adam Mirza, guest artist Akiva Zamcheck, and Bojana Peković. This improvisational “anti-podcast” incorporated electronics, voice, and acoustic instruments.
The program featured the world premiere of Ana Kazimić’s The Quietness of Depth +, a piece for accordion and electronics, alongside solo works by Ivan Brkljačić and Vladimir Korać. November 13, 2024: Bojana Peković & Art Family Ensemble
At Emory’s Concert Hall, Peković performed with his sister, Bojana Peković, a Serbian gusle artist, and the Art Family Ensemble. Together, they fused Serbian folk traditions with jazz and contemporary classical styles.
