“Accordion Day” will be held at the Nieuwe Muziek School Alphen in Alphen aan den Rijn, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands on May 10th, 2025 from 11am to 5pm.

The event will feature a day of accordion workshops organised by accordion ensembles Opus 1 and Opus 2 and the Nieuwe Muziekschool Alphen.

Program:

• 11:00 to 12:30 – Play-In adults led by Eric Vermaak
• 12:30 to 13:15 – Lunch + “Ode to the accordion” by Kaat Vanhaverbeke
• 13:30 to 15:00 – Masterclass conducting by Sergé Latychev.
  During this masterclass, you will have the opportunity to lead accordion ensemble Opus 2 while Sergé Latychev shares his knowledge and experience. Under his guidance you stand and conduct a selection from the beautiful ‘Chaconne’ by Krzyztof Penderecki. The masterclass is invaluable for the participants, but also for other young musicians, and for every music lover who wants to know more about the fascinating interaction between conductor and orchestra.
• 14:00 to 15:00 – Play hour for children up to 12 years old led by Kaat Vanhaverbeke
• 15:30 – Presentation with performances by Opus 1, Opus 2 and play-in orchestra
