Accordionists Sonja Vertainen and Sini Ström (picture left wearing performance masks) will perform at the Helsinki Contemporary Opera Festival, held at the Alexander Theatre in Helsinki, Finland on August 18th and 19th, 2023.

Together with Finnish-Swedish writer Heidi von Wright, Norwegian composer Tze Yeung Ho created the new chamber opera “Det här är ögönblicket” (This is the Moment) for two voices and two accordions in three short acts, reflecting on the concept of death on the opera stage.

The event also includes a short intermezzo for an accordion duo written by the Finnish composer Dante Thelestami.
