May 30th 2025
Christine Johnstone

The Brandon McPhee Band will tour Scotland playing the music of Sir Jimmy Shand from June 11th through to June 15th, 2025.

The tour coincides with the release of a new single entitled “Don’t Sit on My Jimmy Shands” which will be released by Pan Records on June 1st, 2025 (on CD and digital platforms). The track, originally written by Richard Thompson OBE, is a playful and affectionate tribute to a bygone era of 78rpm records, reimagined with Brandon’s signature Scottish-country flair.

The track was recorded between Studio D Wick in Scotland and Stormwest Studios in Nashville, with production support from Phil Anderson. Final mastering was handled by John Mayfield of Mayfield Mastering, whose impressive credits include work for Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson, and Rascal Flatts.

The single is a prelude to Brandon’s upcoming album, The Music of Sir Jimmy Shand, releasing 25th June. The 13-track album celebrates the legacy of the iconic accordionist Sir Jimmy Shand, whose music defined generations of Scottish traditional dance and polka, and brought the genre to international recognition.

This tour is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sir Jimmy Shand’s passing and honour Brandon’s musical hero.
