The 35th edition of Carrefour Mondial de l’Accordéon, the World Accordion Fair will be held in Montmagny, Quebec, Canada from August 30th to September 1st, 2024.
The Carrefour Mondial de l’accordéon was established more than 35 years ago in Montmagny and has grown into a major international event. Each year, it features about 75 musicians from all around the world.
Selected artists give street performances, filling the town with the lively and diverse sounds of the accordion. Over the span of three days, festival-goers can travel through time to discover (or rediscover) well-known musicians. World music, Quebec traditional, musette, classical or jazz.
The festival program includes activities which will be held at various indoor and outdoor venues, such as concerts, exhibitions, musical entertainment at restaurants, workshops and a traditional dance party.
On August 31st, Place Montel in Montmagny, Quebec “will be ablaze with the Grande Nocturne, a major signature event featuring the spokesperson for the 35th edition, Marco Calliari.”
This concert will feature the Marco Calliari Quartet, as well as diatonic accordionists Marie-Jeanne Brousseau, Timi Turmel and Patrick Nolet, accompanied by Carl Mayotte (electric bass), Fred Lebrasseur (percussion) and Christian Nolet (guitar).
