Christelle De Franceschi (France) has just surpassed the 83h 1m 18s Guinness World record for the longest accordion Marathon ever held, set by Mr. Robert Goter in Velenje, Slovenia, on 16th May 2026.
Beginning on September 22nd, 2026, Christelle played for 86 hours, 55 minutes and 57 seconds to make history at the Ville de Tulle in Tulle, France. (Time to be officially recorded).
Christelle held the world record in 2022, 2023 and 2024 before being challenged successfully by Robert Goter last year.
Christiaan Ras (South Africa), the current 3rd place holder plans a challenge to break the world record on December 28th, 2026.
As these accordionists are challenging for a Guinness World record there are very strict rules such as:
Play recognizable pieces of at least two minutes.
Do not play the same piece twice within four hours.
Have a pre-set musical program and submit it to Guinness.
Maximum break of 30 seconds between each piece.
Five minutes break after one hour of continuous activity (cumulative).
Be filmed continuously.
Have witnesses continuously.
Be alone playing continuously.
Use only an acoustic accordion.
