The Landesmusikrat Berlin celebrates the Year of the Accordion with the exhibition series “600 Accordions. Your stories. Our Berlin.”
Berlin music educator, Dieter Plinke has collected well over 600 accordions from a wide variety of countries, times and Berlin neighborhoods in the course of his life – a unique life’s work.
In cooperation with the Handelsverband Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. and six Berlin shopping centres, the Landesmusikrat Berlin is making this extraordinary collection accessible to the public throughout the city in the Year of the Accordion. The exhibition series is accompanied by a multifaceted program with music, workshops, hands-on activities and personal stories about the accordion.
The exhibition is now moving on and changing. The new focal points are “Instruments from East Germany” and the “Hohner series”.
The opening of the 2nd part of the exhibition series will take place on July 13th, 2026 at 4 p.m. in the passage on the 1st floor of the Rathaus-Center Pankow in Berlin. The exhibition can be seen there until August 1st, 2026 and then continues through the Forum Steglitz, the Allee-Center Berlin in Lichtenberg, the East Side Mall in Friedrichshain and Das Schloss in Steglitz.
