March 26th is the birthday of Finnish legendary accordionist Viljo Vesterinen and that´s why the Finns celebrate that day as a National Day of Accordion.

Well-known Finnish accordionist Jukka-Pekka Kuusela organized a concert for the occasion in the famous Great Hall of the Kuhmo Arts Centre. Performers were his students in co-operation with accordionists of the Sotkamo Community College

Their program included music by Timo-Juhani Kyllönen, J. Strauss sr., A. Vossen, P. Pizzigoni, V. Ahvenainen, V. Jääskeläinen, G. Nadas, V. Pöllänen, Mariska, folk music and traditional Finnish accordion music.

The performances were met with huge applause.
