Alison Worthington

The Global Accordion Project Orchestra (GAPO) started by Ian Watson and Sam Cullen (principal bass player) of the London Accordion Orchestra looked to join Accordion Players from around the World virtually during the period when we were unable to come together in person.

GAPO is returning for players around the World to support The Year of the Accordion in Germany for 2026.

Sam Cullen “The project will run with commissioners sending in videos of themselves playing their chosen part. Once again we are opening up the commission to include people who would like to support it but do not wish to submit a video to be part of the performance. This means that supporters of new music and the arts who do not want to submit a video can also feel part of creating something new. We are also including conductors / dirigent:in for the first time.”

Ian Waston is currently putting the finishing notes together for this to be shared with players in October. There is still time to register your participation in this worldwide event. Recordings need to be made by the 14th November.

There are four commissioning levels:

Bronze Commissioner £30 / 30€

Silver Commissioner £75 / 75€
A lesson or conversation about the piece with Ian Watson via Zoom

Gold Commissioner £125 / 125€
Receive a signed score of ”2026 The Year of the Accordion” (published by Amusiko Musikverlage)

Diamond Commissioner £250 / 250€
Receive a full set of a signed score and parts of ‘2026 The Year of the Accordion’ (published by Amusiko Musikverlage)

All commissioners (either individuals, orchestras or organisations) will be thanked and have their names printed in the official published score. All levels allow participation in the virtual performance.
