Accordionist and composer Gorka Hermosa will be performing in a series of October concerts across Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia. These performances will feature the acclaimed poet Jon Maia.  It is a collaboration combining poetry with accordion, cello, piano, and percussion.

The concerts will take place on:

October 13 in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa

October 19 in Zaratamo, Bizkaia

October 25 in Usansolo, Bizkaia

October 26 in Hondarribia, Gipuzkoa

Jon Maia has been widely successful in the Basque Country, with Maia’s last two albums becoming the best-selling records in the region over the past two years, surpassing even mainstream pop bands. Gorka Hermosa, who leads the ensemble, has arranged and composed most of the pieces performed, creating a distinctive fusion of poetry and music that continues to captivate audiences.

Premiere of the first movement of Gorka Hermosa’s Sonata No. 3 ‘Peace Dream’ based on the Ukrainian traditional melody ‘Freckle’ and the Russian traditional melody ‘Meadow Duck’. The full work will be premiered by Vladimir Stupnikov at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, Großer Saal in October 2024.
