The State Youth Accordion Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landes Jugend Akkordeon Orchester NRW conducted by Peter Lohmar) and the National Youth Accordion Orchestra of Switzerland (conducted by Yvonne Glur), will present a joint concert at the Trinity Church Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on May 24th, 2026 from 11am.

The concert will celebrate the “Year of the Accordion 2026”. The Conference of State Music Councils in Germany has chosen the accordion as Instrument of the Year 2026. Article.

There will be a program of contemporary original music such as:

• “Festival Overture” – Rudolf Würthner
• “Kingdoms” – Ian Watson
• “Traumfetzen” – Janin Janke
• “Toccata and Fugue in D minor” – Johann Sebastian Bach
• “Meditation and Allegro in D” – Lutz Stark
• “Grand Galop chromatique” – Franz Liszt

For the concert finale, both orchestras will perform together, creating a truly impressive and powerful conclusion.
