Stockholm, Sweden – October 3-6, 2024: The Kammerton Accordion Festival (KAF) brought together accordion enthusiasts and musicians for four days of diverse performances in Stockholm. This year’s festival highlighted the versatility of the accordion across multiple genres, from classical and contemporary to jazz, folk, tango, and pop led by Artistic Director Leo Florin.
A highlight of the festival was the Gala Concert, featuring the “Flora and Fauna” program. This unique combination of Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals and Torbjörn Lundquist’s Botany Play offered an exciting and memorable performance. The evening concluded with a rendition of The Lion Sleeps Tonight, performed by KAF New Generation Artists 2024 and the Finnish Sibelius Accordion Orchestra, conducted by Reijo Ahonen. This finale captivated the audience and brought the concert to a powerful close.
The 2024 festival also emphasized the development of young talent. Participants in the KAF Academy received masterclasses from experienced accordionists Tiina Välja (Estonia), Jörgen Sundeqvist (Sweden) and Ladislav Horak (Czech Republic), helping them refine their skills and gain international exposure. The festival provided a welcoming environment for these young musicians to connect, learn, and share their passion for the accordion.
With performances from artists around the world, the festival celebrated both the rich history and the evolving future of the next generation of accordionists from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Czech Republic, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ukraine, and China.
