The Macedonian trio consists of professors from the Faculty of Music, Skopje. The players are: Zorica Karakutovska (accordion), Marija Gjosevska (piano) and Aleksandar Kotevski (violoncello) from the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra.
The trio will perform a concert in the eternal city of Rome, Italy to be held this Sunday (17th September) from 21.15 in the magnificent ambience of the Teatro Marcello in Roma.
The trio will perform a variety of repertoire including transcriptions of works from L. van Beethoven; F. Schubert; W.A. Mozart; J. Brahms; S. Rachmaninov; E. Derbenco; I. Albeniz and A. Piazzolla. They will also perform a composition by the well known Macedonian composer Bete Ilin titled ‘Macedonian Paraphrase No. 1’. This work was specially arranged for this trio for this concert. This captivating composition composed in a contemporary style, showcases the complex rhythmic structures of Macedonian folklore (7/8, 9/8) while eluding to the inspiration from traditional Macedonian songs.
The trio began performing together many years ago, and each professor is also part of other professional performing ensembles.
