Under the title, “Masterful Sounds from the Realm of the Dragon”, the Czech “Petr Vacek Accordion School” hosted a concert in St. Nicholas Church in Dobřany (near Pilsen), Czech Republic this month, featuring Chinese accordionist Zhouyang Zhai, a current master student of Prof Xiaoqing Cao at the Beijing State Conservatory of Music and multiple prizewinner of international accordion competitions in Castelfidardo, Klingenthal, Australia, and the Coupe Mondiale among others.

As the first prize winner of last year’s Trophée Mondial in Montargis (south of Paris), France, he has been invited to give concerts and masterclasses throughout the year by all member countries of the Confédération Mondiale de l’Accordéon (CMA).

His performances are characterized not only by absolutely superb and precise technique, but also by great temperament and expressive virtuosity. His extensive repertoire ranges from Baroque (J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti) to contemporary music (S. Haapamäki, V. Semyonov), from arrangements (A. Piazzolla, A. Espinosa, A. Ginastera) to Fantasia No. 1 “Inner Mongolia,” which Xu Xiaonan composed with great sensitivity and virtuosity under the influence of a trip through Mongolia, utilizing a variety of new playing methods of modern accordion music.

In the first part of this concert, Petr Vacek’s students had the opportunity to showcase their considerable talent, already at such a young age. Tomáš Ulč captivated the audience with J. Derbenko’s “Rock Toccata,” Karolína Čekanová enchanted her audience with S. Voitenko’s “Revelation,” and Daniela Váňová impressed with her interpretation of I. Albeniz’s “Asturias.”

The Bugari Duo, formed just last year and consisting of Jaroslav Pokuta and Martinech Chodel, performed a Bach interpretation, among other works. All of these young artists have already gained considerable experience through their dedicated concert performances and have won several international competitions.

Meistertöne aus dem Reich des Drachen

Unter obigem Titel veranstaltete die tschechische „Akkordeonschule Petr Vacek“ ein Konzert in der St. Nikolaus-Kirche in Dobřany (nahe Pilsen) mit dem chinesischen Akkordeonisten Zhouyang Zhai, aktueller Meisterschüler von Prof. Xiaoqing Cao am Staatlichen Musikkonservatorium in Beijing und mehrfacher Preisträger internationaler Akkordeonwettbewerbe in u.a. Castelfidardo, Klingenthal, Australien und auch bei der Coupe Mondiale.

Als 1. Preisträger der letztjährigen Trophée Mondial in Montargis (südlich von Paris) wird er von sämtlichen Mitgliedsländern der Confédération Mondiale de l’Accordéon (CMA) im Laufe des heurigen Jahres zu Konzerten und Meisterklassen eingeladen.

Seine Auftritte sind nicht nur von absolut großartiger und präziser Technik geprägt, sondern auch von großem Temperament und expressiver Virtuosität. Sein umfangreiches Repertoire spannt sich von der Barock- (J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti) bis zur zeitgenössischen Musik (S. Haapamäki, V. Semjonow), von Bearbeitungen (A. Piazzolla, A. Espinosa, A. Ginastera) bis zur Fantasia No. 1 „Inner Mongolia“, die von Xu Xiaonan unter dem Eindruck einer Reise durch die Mongolei sehr einfühlsam und virtuos komponiert wurde, unter Verwendung verschiedenster neuer Spielmethoden der modernen Akkordeonmusik.

Im ersten Teil dieses Konzerts hatten Schüler von Petr Vacek die Möglichkeit, ihr bereits in jungen Jahren beachtliches Können zu präsentieren. Tomáš Ulč begeisterte mit J. Alle genannten jungen Künstler haben durch ihre engagierten Konzertauftritte bereits viel Erfahrung gesammelt und mehrere internationale Wettbewerbe gewonnen.
