The album Musica Danzante by Czech clarinetist Anna Paulová and accordionist-composer Jiří Lukeš has been released on the ArcoDiva label. The recording showcases years of collaboration between the two artists and explores a range of world music with dance-inspired works spanning different periods.

The album is an excursion into various corners of world music that inspires dancing across the centuries, including compositions by J. S. Bach, B. Bartók, A. Piazzolla, R. Galliano, G. Hermosa and others.

Bagatelles for Clarinet and Accordion by Jiří Lukeš was created out of the need to add contemporary works to the dramaturgy, the recording was supported by the Sound Czech – Create grant.

Other partners of the CD are OSA, Year of Czech Music – IDU. “We would like to thank the entire ArcoDiva recording team, music director Jiří Štilec, sound engineer Václav Roubal, graphic designer Eva Bystrianská, photographer Martin Špelda, Jana Černá and everyone else who contributed to the album.” Jiří Lukeš

The album was recorded in the Martinů Hall, Prague to make the CD feel as much like a live concert recording as possible.

“We are very happy that we have managed to realise this project. We have been performing with the accordionist and composer Jiří Lukeš for several years and we have been gradually putting the whole dramaturgy together. The combination of clarinet and accordion is not very common, yet these two instruments are beautifully connected and complement each other. Listeners have the opportunity to gain a completely new perspective on both instruments and discover their additional technical, sonic and expressive possibilities.” Anna Paulová
