A new version of the emblematic Greek song “Mespelaga Armenizo” by Kostas Mountakis has been released, bringing together accordionist and composer Zoe Tiganouria and singer Erini in a fresh interpretation of this popular work.

Mountakis was one of the most important figures in Cretan traditional music, renowned as a singer and master of the Cretan lyra. His music continues to inspire new generations of Greek musicians, and this latest recording provides another opportunity for his work to reach contemporary audiences.

“Zoe Tiganouria, widely recognised for her distinctive accordion playing and her work as a composer and performer, brings the expressive sound of the accordion to the new arrangement. She is joined by Erini, whose vocal interpretation adds another dimension to the recording.”
