The 34th edition of the International Review of Composers, Serbia’s leading contemporary music festival, concluded with a memorable performance by renowned accordionist Nikola Peković. The final concert took place at the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade, Tuesday 8th October.

Peković performed as a soloist alongside the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra Ljubica Marić, under the direction of conductor Radet Pejčić. The program featured four compositions for accordion and string orchestra, marking a significant moment for Serbian contemporary music.

Two world premieres were presented during the concert: To the Stars 3 by Tatjana Milošević Mijanović and Weaving by Branka Popović. Additionally, Etnos by Vladimir Tošić and Johnny Falcon by Dragana Jovanović showcased the rich diversity of modern accordion compositions.

Peković expressed his excitement with the growing repertoire for accordion and orchestra in Serbia. His performance was a fitting conclusion to the festival, celebrating both established and emerging works by domestic composers.

The concert concluded the festival with a powerful emphasis on innovation, highlighting the important contributions of Serbian composers to the evolving repertoire for contemporary classical accordion at one of Serbia’s most important cultural events.
