Nikolay Bine Performs at “Accordions Around the World” at Bryant Park in NYC – USA

Nikolay Bine will perform on September 23rd, 2024, at the “Accordions Around the World”, the free annual global music festival, an annual celebration of accordionists, held in Bryant Park, New York City, USA.

Nikolay recently performed at the 86th AAA Festival. President Frank Busso Jr. shares, “We are pleased to welcome Nikolay Bine to his first AAA festival. He has competed in – and won – many prestigious worldwide competitions. Inspired by current New York City jazz artists, Nikolay’s music specialty is accordion and piano jazz. He has composed many contemporary jazz pieces, arranged several jazz standards, and maintains a busy performance schedule at many top venues, including famed Carnegie Hall.”

Nikolay will perform “French Musette and World Inspired Jazz” in Session 2 from 6:10pm – 6:50pm at Station 5.

Excerpts from his website: Overall, Nikolay’s accordion playing spans over 22 years. Despite being only 28, he has already won many prestigious worldwide competitions, including taking 1st places in Accordion Star International (USA, 2022) and Trophée Mondial (Kaunas, Lithuania, 2014), where he was named a world accordion champion. In 2019, Nikolay was also invited to play in the international exhibition “The New York Times Travel Show” which took place in New York.

Nikolay was accepted to Berklee College of Music and later continued his education at the University of Victoria (Canada) where he obtained his Master’s Degree in accordion performance in the newly established classical accordion studies program.

Nikolay has played with world-famous musicians such as 24-time Grammy winner Chick Corea and Emmy-nominated trumpeter Benny Benack III. Furthermore, Nikolay has also been an invited jury member of the prestigious world accordion competitions in “PIF Castelfidardo” (2019), “Trophée Mondial” (2020), “Italia Award” (2021) and “Accordion Star International” (2023). In 2022, Nikolay had his debut at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York.

“The 2024 season of Picnic Performances is our most ambitious yet,” Dan Fishman, Bryant Park’s vice president of public programming, tells Time Out New York. “Bryant Park will host internationally renowned dance companies, Grammy-winning musicians, a fully staged production of Tosca, a centennial celebration for jazz vocalist Sarah Vaughan, and a grand finale featuring an all-star lineup of musicians performing the music of James Bond.”

As usual, there are no tickets required (it’s free) and there will be more than 700 picnic blankets for audience members to borrow and chairs available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bryant Park Picnic Performances presented by Bank of America is a free outdoor festival that welcomes all New Yorkers to experience the city’s vibrant arts and culture. The series provides a platform for extraordinary artists and serves as a vital outdoor venue for a wide array of New York’s cultural institutions.
