March 14th 2025
Zekiye Yılmaz, CIA Delegate, Turkey

Plovdiv, Bulgaria – A few days ago, the Art Academy “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv hosted an extraordinary event – the 153rd General Assembly of the Delegate Congress (Winter Congress) of the Confederation Internationale des Accordeonistes (CIA), under the leadership of Dr. Angel Marinov. This congress, marked by a long-standing tradition and cultural exchange, saw Turkey’s first active participation, as it presented its candidacy for a CIA delegate.

A Groundbreaking Project for Istanbul
The bold initiative of the Turkish delegate team was announced by candidate Zekiye Yılmaz. The project, set to launch in the heart of Istanbul through Beylikdüzü Belediyesi and the Beylikdüzü Atatürk Cultural and Arts Center, aims to bring a fresh wave of cultural experiences to the local arts scene. The main idea is to regularly organize accordion concerts, combined with an educational program for a newly established accordion class. The training will take place in Beylikdüzü Municipality, within the unique Beylikdüzü Atatürk Cultural and Arts Center, and will be conducted under the strict supervision of Dr. Angel Marinov from the Music Academy in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Cultural Dialogue and the Unifying Power of Music

Representatives of the CIA expressed full support for the project, emphasizing that this initiative is yet another proof of music’s power to unite, inspire, and change the world. With a shared vision of a future where borders between nations fade before the greatness of art, this idea has the potential to evolve into an official school, nurturing new generations of musicians and accordion enthusiasts.
A Bridge Between Cultures

Acting as a bridge between seemingly different yet culturally rich countries, the event in Plovdiv became a symbol of international cooperation and cultural exchange. Zekiye Yılmaz’s initiative not only highlights the creative energy that brings nations together but also demonstrates how music can serve as a tool for building a better and more inspiring society.
As the wave of enthusiasm and support continues to spread, other participants expressed optimism that this pioneering project will leave a lasting mark on the cultural landscape of the accordion world.
