“Jääkärin Rakkaus” is a powerful musical theatre drama about the stages of the Jäger movement in the early years of Finland’s independence.
The performance was written by actor Pauli Poranen, who is known for his monologue “The Horror of Morocco” and the film “The Unknown Soldier”. In Mollberg’s version, Poranen played the role of Corporal Lehto.
Accordionist and actor, Raimo Vertainen (conductor of the Guardia Nueva orchestra) plays accordions and vibrandoneon in the drama, which will be held at the Kansan Taiteen Keskus – Kaustinen Hall of the Folk Arts Center in Kaustinen, Finland on December 5th, 2025. Vertainen has also chosen and arranged the music.
The performance combines theatre drama with strong musical expression. Composers include Jean Sibelius, Heikki Klemetti, Karl Wilhelm and Sam Sihvo.
The performance highlights the unique significance of the Jäger movement in the Finnish struggle for independence, as well as the stages of one person’s love drama on the journey of his own life.
