From August 11–16, 2025, NordAccordion will once again host one of the world’s most beautiful accordion festivals in the stunning surroundings of Voss, Norway. The event will feature the traditional summer seminar alongside concerts by a stellar lineup of Norwegian and international artists.

This year’s program highlights include performances by James Crabb, Prof. Geir Draugsvoll (professor for accordion at Royal Danish Academy of Music), Gemini Duo, Kristina Farstad Bjørdal, Britt Pernille Frøholm, and an array of rising international accordion stars. A special focus will be given to festival composer Magnar Åm, whose new works will be premiered, and participating students will have the opportunity to receive feedback on his compositions for accordion.

A highlight of this year’s festival is the appearance of James Crabb, traveling from Australia to share his extensive experience in the accordion world. Crabb will join Prof. Geir Draugsvoll for a performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Petrouchka, a work they previously recorded for EMI that set new standards for accordion transcription.

The festival also features a world premiere: Sofia Gubaidulina’s Hell und Dunkel in its newly approved arrangement for two accordions. Finalised shortly before the composer’s passing, this live performance will be a significant tribute to her legacy.

Also returning to NordAccordion is Veli Kujala (head of the classical accordion department at the Sibelius Academy, Finland), who was last featured in 2023.
