Of special note was the Richard Galliano arrangement of the Chinese folk song “Jasmine Flower” as his encore. This was a particularly beautiful arrangement with its own unique Richard Galliano interpretation. The audience couldn’t help humming the melodies and there was a great feeling of elegance and warmth – no one wanted to leave.
The next afternoon, Richard Galliano participated in a public service activity “Appointment with the Master” masterclass, at the Shanghai Concert Hall. He worked with three accordion amateurs including participatory discussion for more than one hour.
While many accordionist focus on technical guidance, Galliano prefers to gradually broaden a student’s horizon with their study. He said, “The most important thing to learn for accordion, is listening.”
To this end, Galliano then listed an array of tracks by other composers for the benefit of everyone. His teaching skill and cordial approach was most impressive.
