The 29th International Accordion Week “Alcobaca 2026” will take place from May 16th to 24th organised by the Accordion Association of Portugal, President Aníbal Freire.
The event will include concerts, masterclasses, conferences and a competition and will bring together some of the best accordionists and teachers in the world.
With the 29th National Trophy / 10th International Accordion Competition, taking place on May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, this will once again provide an opportunity for many young accordionists (Portuguese and international) to assess their artistic knowledge and technical skills.
“Over the past four years or so, we have noticed the very high and steadily increasing number of participants in both the National and International Competitions. Therefore, for the first time, we decided to change the format of the Regulations, introducing tables that we believe are clearer and more informative regarding the requirements for participation in each competition category.”
This year, there will be four additional variants in terms of categories. These new categories are related to younger accordionists: the Beginner Category (Convertor A and Convertor B) and the Children Category (Convertor A and Convertor B). This means that participants whose programs include pieces performed on the Free Bass System will not compete against participants who perform pieces on the Standard Bass System.
See poster for concert and masterclass information.
The deadline for competition entries is: April 25th, 2026.
