On April 10 and 11, Sofia Gubaidulina’s Fachwerk will be performed in Santiago de Compostela and Vigo by the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia, with Iñaki Alberdi as soloist and Sebastian Zinca conducting.

April 10 – 8:30 PM, Auditorio de Galicia (Santiago de Compostela)

April 11 – 8:00 PM, Centro Cultural Afundación (Vigo)

A pre-concert discussion with Baldur Brönnimann (Principle Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia) and Iñaki Alberdi will take place in the Mozart Hall at 7:45 PM, offering insight and to hear first hand impressions of the music and their work.

Iñaki Alberdi worked closely with Sofia Gubaidulina (1931–2025), premiering her work Kadenza and extensively performing and recording her repertoire.

Gubaidulina’s music reflects a journey through Russia’s soundscape, shaped by her Tatar heritage and deep religious beliefs. Labeled a persona non grata by the Soviet regime, she was unable to travel abroad until the late 1980s, when she gained international recognition. In Fachwerk, she explores a dialogue between the Western and Tatar musical traditions she knows so well.
