The NordAccordion 2025 Festival will be held in Voss, Norway from August 11th to 16th, 2025.

The event will feature the following concerts:

  • August 11th opening concert – Sofia Gubaidulina in memoriam. The festival honors one of the most important composers of our time, Sofia Gubaidulina (1931 – 2025). The program combines works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Gubaidulina – including the world premiere of Hell und Dunkel for two accordions. Performers: Geir Draugsvoll, James Crabb and Samuel Skrede (cello).!
  • August 13th concert “Duoissimo” (3 composers, 2 duos, 1 instrument). The accordion duo has proven to be an excellent opportunity for the instrument to interpret and perform transcriptions of large orchestral works. With chamber musical precision and a rich dynamic sound spectrum we have chosen to give new life to the legendary late Romantic composers Stravinsky, Holst and Borodin! At the concert, the audience will hear some of their most iconic works: Petrouchka, Planetane and Polovtsiske dancers. Co-stars Geir Draugsvoll, James Crabb and Gemini Duo.
  • August 14th Lunch concert in Voss Sparebank. With one of the country’s most experienced accordion players, Håvard Svendsrud serves up a musical journey “from Rameau to Haagenrud”.
  • August 14th at Ole Bull Akademiet “Magnar Åm – Portrait Concert”. Magnar Åm is the 2025 festival composer, who has a very unique voice in the Norwegian music scene. This evening will feature the world premiere of the piece Sporlaust Funnen. Performers are Geir Draugsvoll, Kristina Farstad Bjørdal, Britt Pernille Frøholm (Harding fiddle) and Gemini Duo.
  • August 15th – Opera pub! The traditional opera pub at Tre Brør café is back. Opera singers Stephanie Lippert (soprano / mezzo-soprano) and Hallvar Djupvik (tenor) conjure up words and tones from some of the greatest and most popular gems in the opera repertoire. This year it is Ida Løvli Hidle (accordion) who brings the music to life.
  • August 16th – Free concert at Stalheim Hotel. Gemini Duo has made a meteoric career as an accordion duo since they first visited NordAccordion as young students in 2018. Since then, they have played on world-renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Berlin Philharmonic. Their concert entitled “The Romantic Accordion” will include music by Edvard Grieg, in a national-romantic setting!
  • August 16th Concert in Bakka Church. NordAccordion is gathering young accordion talents from all over the world for a summer course at the Ole Bull Academy. Take a trip to the beautiful Bakka Church and hear what these young musicians have been working on this week. Free admission.
  • August 16th final concert at Ole Bull Academy. This year’s young students who took part in the summer course get to show what they can do. Their program will include a varied repertoire of composers – from the Baroque era, through the 19th and 20th centuries, and all the way to virtuoso original works for accordion. The participants are between 12 and 25 years old and come from all over the world.
