KORG FISA SUPREMA Makes Its Japan Debut at Tokyo Gakki Music Expo

The Tokyo Gakki Expo (東京楽器博 Tokyo Musical Instrument Expo), a hands-on musical instrument exhibition held on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024, at the Science Museum in Tokyo, drew significant attention with its theme, “See, Hear, Play, Beat – The Ultimate Musical Experience!” Among the highlights of this vibrant event was the Japan debut of the FISA SUPREMA, an innovative accordion that captivated audiences with its artistry and performance capabilities.

To commemorate this special occasion, Fisa Suprema introduced four stunning color variations specially prepared for the Tokyo Gakki Expo, inspired by Italy’s rich cultural and natural heritage:

● AMALFI: A breathtaking shade of blue reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast’s azure waters.
● CORALLO: A passionate and sophisticated coral red exuding elegance.
● DOLOMITE: A snowy white inspired by the Dolomite Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
● LUNA: A mysterious and tranquil moonlit gray.

*They are just prototypes created to celebrate this show and are not currently available for sale.

These exquisite designs not only drew visitors’ admiration but also underscored FISA SUPREMA’s commitment to blending visual beauty with exceptional musicality.

The event proved to be a massive success, with a total of 8,115 attendees, including participants of the opening night preview. Enthusiasts flocked to explore and experience the latest in musical innovation, making the Tokyo Music Expo a memorable gathering for musicians and music lovers alike.

Adding to the excitement, Korg hosted the Korg CROSSOVER MUSIC FESTIVAL, which featured performances by top artists from diverse musical genres. Among the standout acts was coba, a globally acclaimed accordionist known for his groundbreaking work in international music scenes. coba’s electrifying setlist included “Campana”, “Yuganda Tokei”, “Libertango”, and “Crimson Strings,” all showcasing the expressive potential of the Fisa Suprema.

Following coba’s performance, two exceptional accordionists took the stage at the Fisa Suprema booth to demonstrate the instrument’s capabilities.

Fati Fehmiju, composer, accordion player, and the developer of the accordion part of FISA SUPREMA, showcased technical details revealing the instrument’s boundless possibilities. Fehmiju’s stage had many examples from various musical genres from Traditional to Latin, Classical to French, and Soundtracks to show the physical modeling technology of the accordion part, bellows action, controllers, sound variety, unique features, and a versatile sound library.

Tomomi Ota, a professional accordionist and a board member of the Japan Accordion Association, highlighted the authenticity and unparalleled playing experience that Fisa Suprema offers, catering to accordion players of every taste and style. Tomomi’s stage was focused on classical and contemporary performances, especially with the usage of free bass to show the wide potentiality of the instrument for the new and experimental music too. These demonstrations further solidified the instrument’s reputation as a groundbreaking innovation in the world of accordions.

Although the Fisa Suprema is not yet available for sale in Japan, its debut at the Tokyo Music Expo marked a significant milestone, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating its future presence in the Japanese market. This successful unveiling sets the stage for Fisa Suprema to make a lasting impact on Japan’s vibrant music community.
